James B. Gill

James B. Gill, 86, of Matawan, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, August 20, 2020.  James was born on June 23, 1934 in Newark, New Jersey, where he grew up.  On August 20, 1953, James and his wife, Josephine, were married and began their lives together in Hazlet, where they raised their family.  James was a union iron worker for Local #11 in Newark.  He was also the proprietor of Jersey Steel Erectors in the Highlands.  Most of all, James was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

He was predeceased by his parents, Richard and Mary Gill.  James is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 67 years, Josephine F. Gill, and his loving children, Joann Burgos and her husband, Kenneth, of Hazlet, Arlene Kirby and her husband, John, of Hazlet/Florida, Theresa Rost and her husband, Richard, of Jacksonville, Florida, and James Gill and his wife, Jill, of Tinton Falls.  James is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Kari and Kenneth Burgos, John and Joseph Kirby, Michelle and Kristen Rost, and Jim and Nick Gill, and his adored great grandchildren, Caitlin, Madelyn, and Joselyn Burgos and Charlotte Kirby.  James will be greatly missed and never forgotten.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Monday, August 24, 2020 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM and Tuesday morning, August 25, 2020 from 8:45 to 9:30 AM at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday morning, August 25, 2020 at 10:00 AM at St. Clement Roman Catholic Church, 727 Freneau Avenue, Matawan, New Jersey 07747.  Entombment will follow at Ocean County Memorial Park, 1722 Silverton Road, Toms River, New Jersey at approximately 12:00 PM.  For information, directions, or to send condolences to the family, please visit, www.shorepointfh.com.
