Iris K Smith

Iris Smith, 89, of Keyport NJ passed away peacefully at Anchor Care and Rehabilitation Center on August 15, 2023.  She was born in Fort Monmouth NJ on June 14, 1934 to Helen and Howard Kramer. Iris grew up in Matawan, NJ before moving to Keyport NJ in 1958, where she proudly remained in her home for over 60 years.

She married Thomas Smith in June 1954 and remained together for over 35 years and had 2 children – Will and Iris. She worked in the family business - Smith’s Flower & Gifts most of her life and loved animals, sewing, planting flowers, painting and anything arts and crafts. She was a member of the Keyport Senior Citizen Center and loved to line dance and marched in many parades with the “Girls”.   Family and Friends were very important, and she always leant a helping hand. She will be greatly missed, forever remembered and will always live in the hearts of those who knew her. 

She is survived by her son Will Smith of Aberdeen NJ and wife Joanne; daughter Iris Fread of Hazlet NJ and husband Dennis; grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister’s Jan and Phil; sister-in-law Ellen and many nieces and nephews.

In respect of Iris’s wishes, she will be privately cremated.  Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Visitation on Friday, August 18, 2023, from 4:00PM to 7:00 PM at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, NJ 07730.  A prayer service will be offered at the funeral home during the visitation hours.
