Henry Handel III, 62, of Aberdeen, passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2024, at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel, New Jersey. He was born on May 13, 1962, in Belleville, New Jersey to his parents, Henry J. II and Rosina (DeLorenzo) Handel. For most of his life, Henry grew up in Morganville, New Jersey. He met the love of his life, Kathleen Ann Prentice, while they were attending Brookdale Community College. They fell in love and were married on May 5, 1991. They had their first and only child, Christy Rose Handel, on July 6, 1998. Henry and Kathleen moved to Aberdeen five years ago.
Henry was a talented athlete, particularly as a baseball player. While at Brookdale Community College, Henry was a talented pitcher for the Jersey Blues, and he later played for Kean College. In high school, he was the only player to play on varsity for all four years, a testament to his skill and dedication to the sport.
Henry was the owner and operator of his business, Handel’s Distribution Company, of Aberdeen, New Jersey. When he wasn’t working, he loved spending time with friends and family, playing golf, watching horse racing, and going out for a “good meal”. He enjoyed spending time with and walking his dog, Louis.
Henry was a devoted son, husband, father, brother, uncle, neighbor, and friend. Henry was a beacon of light to all who knew him, leaving an everlasting mark on their hearts. His generosity was unmatched. His kindness and unwavering humility touched countless lives, creating a legacy that will endure through the stories and memories shared by those fortunate enough to have known him. His absence will be profoundly felt, like a gentle breeze that once whispered through the trees, yet his spirit will continue to be felt in the hearts of his loved ones. Forever cherished, always loved, and eternally remembered, Henry’s legacy will live on as a testament to the profound impact of a life well-lived.
Henry is predeceased by his beloved parents, Henry J. II and Rosina (DeLorenzo) Handel, and his caring sisters, Lisa Marie Handel and Dina Handel. He is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen A. (Prentice) Handel, his cherished daughter, Christy Rose Handel, soon-to-be son-in-law, David Michael Kamenar, both of Honolulu, Hawaiʻi, his caring brother, Eric Handel Sr., and nephew, Eric Handel Jr., both of Washington State, as well as many extended family and friends.
