Gregory W. Johnson

Gregory W. Johnson, 50, of Hazlet, New Jersey, passed away suddenly on Monday, August 26, 2024, in Cape May, New Jersey, while on vacation with his family. Greg was born on March 5, 1974, in Belleville, New Jersey.  He was a lifelong resident of Hazlet, New Jersey. He met the love of his life Tina Hammond in 1996, and they later married.

Greg graduated from Raritan High School, Hazlet, New Jersey in 1992. He served his country proudly in the United State Navy from 1995 until 1999.   He graduated from Hodges University, Ft. Myers, Florida in 2003, with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management.  Greg worked as a Deputy Sheriff for the Lee County Sheriff’s Department, Florida.  In 2007 Greg graduated from the Monmouth County Police Academy and began his career with the Keyport Police Department, Keyport, New Jersey. Through Greg’s dedication he made the rank of Lieutenant.  He was a devoted son, husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. 

He is survived by his loving wife, Tina Hammond Johnson, his cherished children, Keira Johnson and Jacob Johnson, his devoted parents, William Glenn and Marguerite (Dino) Johnson, his caring sister, Tammy Johnson-Mascher and her husband Tom Mascher, his in-laws, Raymond and Patricia (Trolian) Hammond, his sister-in-law and her husband Dina and Joseph DiGregorio and their children, Lucas and Sophia DiGregorio as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends.  Greg will be greatly missed, always loved and never forgotten. 

Relatives and friends are invited to visit on Friday, August 30, 2024, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 9:00 PM and on Saturday, August 31, 2024, from 8:45 AM until 9:30 AM at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at Saint Benedict Roman Catholic Church, 165 Bethany Road, Holmdel, New Jersey   07733.  Interment will follow at Saint Jospeh Cemetery, 360 Broadway, Keyport, New Jersey   07735.
