Grace M Schaufler

Grace M. Schaufler, 96, presently of Warrenton, Virginia, previously of New Jersey, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at Warrenton Hospital in Virginia.  She was born Grace Sappah on June 1, 1928, at her family home in Union Beach, New Jersey.  Grace grew up in Union Beach and lived there until 1948, when she married her beloved husband, Emil.  Grace and Emil were married on November 7, 1948, and started their life together in West Keansburg, where they remained to raise their family.  Throughout her life, Grace worked side by side with her husband Emil, supporting him with his business, Schaufler Trenching, for many years.  In the mid 1990’s after her Emil’s passing, Grace settled in Keyport.  Above all else, Grace was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to many.  She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

She was predeceased by her parents, George and Grace (Dorr) Sappah and her beloved husband, Emil J. Schaufler.  Grace is survived by her loving daughters, Carol Ann McKernan and her husband, Michael, of Zellwood, Florida, and Susan Ann L’Etoile and her husband, Stephen, of Warrenton, Virginia, her sister, Eileen DeFazio of Cape May, New Jersey, and her cherished grandchildren, Shawn McKernan, Tracy Strecker, Joseph L’Etoile, Melissa L’Etoile, Joshua L’Etoile, and Benjamin L’Etoile, along with her treasured great grandsons, Adam, Austin, and Allan, and her dear great granddaughter, Sawyer.

Arrangements were entrusted to Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday morning, May 6, 2025, at 10:30 AM at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, 727 Highway 36, Union Beach, New Jersey 07735.  Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, 360 Broadway, Keyport, New Jersey 07735.  For information, directions, or to send condolences to the family, please visit, www.shorepointfh.com.
