Glen E. Tye, 81, of Laurence Harbor, New Jersey, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, June 3, 2024, at Care One at Trinitas Regional Medical Center in Elizabeth. Glen was born on October 25, 1942, in Medford, Oregon, where he grew up. While serving in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, Glen was introduced to his beloved wife Barbara by his Air Force buddy. They started dating and soon after were married on March 11, 1967, starting their life together in Laurence Harbor. They remained in Laurence Harbor to raise their family and spent many happy years there together. Before his retirement, Glen worked as a machinist for AT&T/Bell Labs in Holmdel for 35 years.
He enjoyed collecting elongated pennies and was a member of TEC (The Elongated Collectors) club since 1974. He was an avid woodworker and member of The National Wood Carvers Association. He enjoyed spending vacations in Lancaster County PA along with other trips with his AARP friends.
Most of all, Glen was a loving husband, father, brother, Pop Pop, and friend to many. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
He was predeceased by his parents, William “Burr” Tye and Dorotha (Nicewood) Tye. Glen is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 57 years, Barbara (Gallagher) Tye, his loving sons, Brian Tye and his wife, Leah, of Jackson, and Kevin Tye and his wife, Elizabeth, of Bayville, his dear brother, Earl Tye and his wife, Bethy, of Central Point, Oregon, and his cherished grandchildren, Brendan, Andrew, Emily, and Alexa.
Arrangements were entrusted to Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730. In respect of Glen’s wishes, his services will be private. Glen will be laid to rest at St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum, 360 Broadway, Keyport, New Jersey 07735.
