George "Russ" Bloss Obituary

George Russell Bloss, 69, fondly known as “Russ” by his family and friends, passed away on June 17, 2026, at his home in Bridgewater, New Jersey.

Born on August 18, 1956, in New Brunswick, New Jersey, Russ was the son of George and Theresa Clare (Van Ness) Bloss. He grew up in Milltown, New Jersey and later in life, settled in Bridgewater.

Russ was a hardworking man who spent many years as the Pro-Desk Manager at Home Depot in Bridgewater. He took pride in his work and was known for his dependable nature, his friendly manner, and the care he showed to those around him. He was appreciated by his coworkers and customers alike and built lasting relationships through the years during the time he spent there.

In his younger years, Russ played basketball at Bloomfield College, and his love of sports remained with him throughout his life. He enjoyed music, softball, and golf, and he found great joy in staying active and connected to the people and activities he loved. Over the last several years, he managed a men’s softball league and was also an avid golfer, as a member of a golf league as well as playing with friends every Sunday. He was a lifelong fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the Indianapolis Colts, and he followed both teams with enthusiasm and loyalty.

Russ was also known for his warm personality and his many talents, including making a mean cheesecake that his family and friends especially enjoyed. More than anything, he treasured time with his loved ones. He adored his son, Justin, and took immense pride in Justin’s life and family. He especially loved his cherished grandchildren, Austin and Averie Bloss, and he found great happiness in spending time with them. His love for his family was evident in all he did, and the bonds he shared with them were among the greatest joys of his life.

He was predeceased by his parents, George and Theresa Clare Bloss, and by his siblings, Theresa Blumig and Judy Whithum. He is survived by his loving son, Justin Bloss, and wife Brittany; his cherished grandchildren, Austin and Averie Bloss; his dear sister, Faye Miller, and her husband Fred; and his brothers-in-law, Ted Blumig and Jack Whithum.

Russ’s memory will be cherished always by all who knew and loved him.
