George Soto Sr., 70, of Keansburg, New Jersey, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at his home. George was born on July 16, 1950 in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico, and immigrated to the United States at a very young age, where he resided in New York. As a young man, George married the love of his life Lucy on July 26, 1975 and they transitioned to Jersey City, where he was a career police officer for 25 years. Eventually George and Lucy settled in Keansburg in the mid 80’s where they remained to raise their family.
George was known in the community as a second dad. He would always be the caretaker of the group and always willing to lend a hand. He loved the Yankees and Giants, enjoyed watching boxing matches, and most importantly, enjoyed time with his family, especially his grandchildren, who he loved dearly. George was also extremely proud of both his military service and his country. He served in the United States Army and showed great pride in his flag by displaying it where ever he could.
George was predeceased by his parents Miguel and Eufemia Soto. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years Lucy Soto, his children George Soto Jr. and his wife Michelle, Kristy Soto, and Jennifer Sanchez and her husband Anthony, his grandchildren Cheyenne, Andrew, and Chloe, his brother Freddy Soto, his “adoptive daughter” Diane, and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. George will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
