George J. Burke Sr.

George J. Burke Sr., 85, of Union Beach, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 14, 2020 at Bayshore Community Hospital in Holmdel, New Jersey.  George was born on January 7, 1936 in Union City, New Jersey, and grew up in Jersey City.  In 1964, he settled in Union Beach.  On November 28, 1983, George and his wife, Elizabeth, were married and began their life together in Union Beach.  Before his retirement, George worked for the State of New Jersey Department of Transportation as a truck driver for many years.  In his spare time, George enjoyed working on cars and spending time in Atlantic City.  He also liked playing bingo and the lottery.  George will be greatly missed and never forgotten.

He was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Sarah (Rettig) Burke, his beloved first wife and the mother of his children, Antoinette Lamattina, his siblings, Bubby, John, Joey, Sissy, and Audrey, and his daughter-in-law, Lorraine. George is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 38 years, Elizabeth (Polsunas) Burke, his loving children, Anthony, George, and Jody, his dear siblings, Margaret, Caroline, and Arty, his cherished grandchildren, Tina, Brittney, and Rylee, and his adored great grandchildren, Robert, Adam, Tyler, and Nicholas.  George is also survived by many treasured sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends, and his beloved dog, Geno.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Saturday, April 17, 2021 from 3:00 to 6:00 PM at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730.  A prayer service will be offered at the funeral home during visitation hours.  In respect of George's wishes, he will be privately cremated.  For information, directions, or to send condolences to the family, please visit, www.shorepointfh.com.
