Gabriella Skinner

Gabriella Skinner, 58, of Hazlet, passed away peacefully, with family by her side, on Friday, September 20, 2024, at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, New Jersey.

Gabriella was born on March 24, 1966, in Pannarano, Benevento, Italy to her parents, Francesco and Orsola (Covino) Borreca. On November 29, 1969, at the age of three along with her family they moved to North Bergen, New Jersey. Gabriella met and married the love of her life, Jimmy Skinner on November 21, 1995. They began their married life in Wallington moving to Hazlet, New Jersey in April of 2000, where they remained.

 Gabriella enjoyed her career as a hairdresser for many years working for various salons in the area, most recently Trio Salon in Hazlet, New Jersey.   Her strong faith led her to being a devoted parishioner of Saint Benedict Roman Catholic Church, Holmdel, New Jersey.  In her spare time, Gabriella enjoyed gardening, especially her flowers and caring for her fig tree.  Traditional “Sunday Dinners” of making sauce and wine with her family were some of her happiest times.  Gabriella will be most remembered for before anything, she made sure that her family was always #1. 

She was predeceased by her beloved parents, Francesco and Orsola (Covino) Borreca and her in-laws, Dolores and James Skinner.  She is survived by her loving husband James Skinner of Hazlet, New Jersey, her cherished children, Jake Skinner, at home and Samantha Skinner of Keyport, New Jersey, her caring siblings, Lisa Fanning and her late husband Bob of Fairlawn, New Jersey, Aldo Borreca and his wife Joanne of Wood-Ridge, New Jersey, Anna Maria Borreca and her husband John Costa of Sunrise, Florida and Mario Borreca of North Bergen, New Jersey, sister in laws, Jacklyn Scales and Sandra Scott and her husband Andy as well as many many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.  Gabriella was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, sister and aunt. She will be greatly missed, forever loved and never forgotten. 

Arrangements were entrusted to Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730. In respect of Gabriella’s wishes she will be privately cremated. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday October 5th at 11:00am at Saint Benedict Roman.
