Eric Plath Obituary

Eric Plath, 43, born on December 16, 1982, in Red Bank, New Jersey, passed away on April 20, 2026, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey.

Eric grew up in various towns throughout the Bayshore area and carried with him the values and experiences of those communities throughout his life. In 2020, he settled in Manville, New Jersey, where he remained to raise his children and built a life centered around his family. His love for his sons was evident in all that he did, and he took great pride in being their father.

Eric worked as a journey person/carpenter for Local #157 in New York, as part of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America. He was respected for his skill, dedication, and strong work ethic. He never sat idle and was always busy, finding purpose in hard work and staying active.

Outside of work, Eric was an outdoorsman who found joy in spending his free time outside whenever possible.  He especially loved fishing. He appreciated the peace and satisfaction that came from being outdoors, and these interests reflected his energetic and active nature. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was known for being funny and loving. He brought a light into every room he entered, and his presence could lift the spirits of those around him. His easygoing personality made a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Eric will be remembered most for the love he gave so freely and the way he made others feel welcome and valued. He was a man who cared deeply for his family, especially his two sons, whom he adored. He leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and cherished memories. Though his time here was far too short, the impact he made on his family and friends will remain with them always.

Eric was a beloved son, father, brother, partner, and friend. He is survived by his loving father, Robert Plath, and his wife, Jeanne; his beloved mother, Dawn (Smith) Plath; his significant other and the mother of his children, Laura Semler; his cherished sons, Mason and Hunter; his dear brother, Robert Plath Jr. and his wife, Kim; and his treasured nieces, Bella and Molly. He also leaves behind many extended family members, friends, and coworkers who will remember him with great affection.
