Elizabeth (Galvin) Meyer

Elizabeth Meyer, fondly known as “Betty”, 77, of Holmdel, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Friday, August 9, 2024.  Betty was born on June 1, 1947, in Brooklyn, New York, where she was raised and met her beloved husband, Russell.  They were married on August 30, 1969, and began their life together.  In 1972, they settled on Seventh Street in Belford, New Jersey, where they remained to raise their family.  In 2019, they relocated to Holmdel.  Before her retirement, Betty worked as a bus driver for Murphy Bus Company for Middletown schools for 38 years.  A devoted Catholic, she was also a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.  In her spare time, Betty enjoyed water aerobics, cooking, and was an avid walker.  She loved music and was known to sing, dance, and vacuum to the oldies.  Most of all, being a grandmother to her three cherished granddaughters was Betty’s pride and joy.  She will be greatly missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

She was predeceased by her parents, John and Mary (Toomey) Galvin, and her siblings, Michael and Edward Galvin.  Betty is survived by her beloved and devoted husband of 54 years, Russell J. Meyer Sr., her loving children, Russell J. Meyer Jr. and his wife, Stacey, of Franklin, Tennessee, and Denise Burt and her husband, Edward, of Northfield, her dear brothers, John Galvin, Thomas Galvin, and Donald Galvin and his wife, Evelyn, her treasured sister-in-law, Marlene Galvin, her lifelong friend, Dolores Malinowski, and her cherished granddaughters, Annabel Meyer, Amelia Meyer, and Ava Meyer.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM and Wednesday morning, August 14, 2024 from 8:30 to 9:15 AM at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730.  A Mass will be offered on 10:00 AM, Wednesday morning, August 14, 2024 at St. Mary, Mother of God Church, 19 Cherry Tree Farm Road, Middletown, New Jersey 07748.  Interment will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery, 100 Chapel Hill Road, Middletown/Red Bank, New Jersey 07701.  In lieu of flowers, donations in loving memory of Betty may be made to Barbi’s Blankets at barbisblankets.com and/or Holiday Express at holidayexpress.org/donate/.  For information, directions, or to send condolences to the family, please visit, www.shorepointfh.com.
