Elda A. Chris, 77, of Aberdeen, New Jersey, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, October 15, 2023, at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, New Jersey. She was born Elda Canas on July 28, 1946, in Newark, New Jersey, where she grew up. After marriage, Elda and her husband, Lawrence, settled in Aberdeen, New Jersey, where they remained to raise their daughter, Desiree. Elda was a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend to many. Her greatest joy in life was making her house a home for herself and her beloved family. Despite the challenging journey she faced, Elda always had a smile on her face. She will be greatly missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
She was predeceased by her parents, Jose and Helen (Borkowski) Canas, her beloved husband, Lawrence R. Chris, and her siblings, Joseph Canas, Helen Canas, Mary Canas, Victoria Canas, Gloria Canas, and Manuel Canas. Elda is survived by her loving daughter, Desiree Chris and her fiancé, Rafael Rosario, her faithful companion and four-legged son, Bocci, her dear siblings, Dolores Curran and her husband, Don, Carmen Canas, Josephine Stewart, Rosalia Stewart and her husband, Frank, and Fatima Monroig and her husband, Richard, and her cherished sisters-in-law, Anita Canas and Barbara Canas, along with many treasured nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM and Thursday morning, October 19, 2023, from 8:45 to 9:30 AM at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday morning, October 19, 2023, at 10:00 AM at St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church, 109 Laurence Parkway, Laurence Harbor, New Jersey 08879.
