Elaine O'Sullivan Obituary

Elaine E. O'Sullivan, a woman of faith and love, passed away with her children by her side on March 14, 2026, at Brandywine Assisted Living in Howell, New Jersey. Born on May 14, 1933, in St. Louis, Missouri, to the late Frederick and Anna (Doerhoff) Evers, Elaine's life was a testament to her generous spirit and unwavering commitment to her family and community.

Elaine's journey through life was one of devotion and joy. She met the love of her life, Eugene O'Sullivan, while he was serving in the military in her hometown of St. Louis. The couple married in May of 1955, embarking on a life together that would take them through various places in the United States. In 1965, they planted their roots in Hazlet, New Jersey, where Elaine dedicated herself to raising their five loving children.

Before her retirement, Elaine served as an Administrative Assistant for Lucent Technology in Holmdel, New Jersey, where her professionalism and warmth were appreciated by all who worked with her. Her dedication was also apparent with her involvement in her beloved parish, Holy Family Church in Union Beach. As an active member of the church choir and the senior citizens group, Elaine's faith-filled voice and presence were a comfort and inspiration to many.

Elaine's interests extended beyond her professional and church life. She was an avid card player, relishing the camaraderie and competition of games with her women friends whom she built a lifetime of friendships. Her adventurous spirit led her to explore the world, taking international trips to destinations like Ireland, Germany and other parts of Europe, where she embraced new cultures and experiences with enthusiasm. She also found joy in watching and rooting for her favorite baseball team, The St. Louis Cardinals.

Described by those who knew her as determined, loving, and generous, Elaine had a wonderful impact on those around her. She nurtured a family that respected and adored her, especially after the extremely difficult loss of her husband in 1976 at a very young age,

Elaine was predeceased by her devoted husband, Eugene, her beloved parents, Frederick and Anna Evers, her siblings, Norman Evers and Gloria Cavanaugh, and her son-in-law, Michael Bezio.

Elaine is survived by her loving children: Kevin and his wife Shari O’Sullivan, Timothy and his wife Donna O’Sullivan, Jeanne Bezio, Erin and her husband Robert Brown, and Colleen and her husband Rodney Cassano: her dear sisters, Janet and Viola Evers, and her cherished grandchildren: Meghan, Kelly, Christopher, Hailey, Emily, Timothy, Catherine, Matthew, Michael, and Kyle. Her legacy continued to grow with her treasured great-grandchildren: Evalina, Mairin, Alise, Makenzie, and Hunter, and the joyous anticipation of another great-granddaughter due in June.

Elaine’s memory will be cherished and kept alive through the stories and love she leaves behind.  She will be deeply missed, but her light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who loved her.
