Dorothy Gajewski, 80, of West Milford, New Jersey, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family, on Thursday, October 24, 2024, at Chilton Medical Center, Pompton Plains, New Jersey. Dorothy was born on October 27, 1943, in Jersey City, New Jersey to her parents, Anthony and Emily (Jacob) Parisi. She lived in the Jersey City area until she moved with her family to Union Beach, New Jersey in 1988. In 2019 along with her husband Robert, they moved to West Milford, New Jersey, where they remained. Dorothy retired after many years as a bus driver for the Hudson County Vocational Technical School district.
Dorothy had fun doing her “scratch offs” , visiting Atlantic City and playing the slot machines. She was a big “Trump” supporter, cheering to “Make America Great Again”! She loved spending time with her family, especially her cherished grandchildren. She was a devoted, daughter, wife, mother, stepmother, sister, grandmother and aunt to many nieces and nephews . She will be greatly missed, always loved and never forgotten.
She is pre-deceased by her parents, Anthony and Emily (Jacob) Parisi, four brothers and three sisters. She is survived by her beloved husband of 32 years, Robert Gajewski, her loving children Albie Aveta, Christopher Aveta and his wife Catherine, Lauren Cherney and her husband Matthew, her stepchildren, Robert Gajewski and his wife Donna, Kim Sandak and Lenore Gajewski and her husband Martin, her adoring grandchildren, Brandon DeCosta, Rose Aveta, Christopher Aveta, Timothy Cherney, Isabella Cherney, Savannah Sandak and Michael Gajewski, her caring sisters, Mildred Napolitano and her life partner Patrick Frasco and Kathleen Bellino.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, from 4:00PM to 8:00 PM and on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, from 10:00 AM until the time of the funeral service at 10:30 AM at 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730. Entombment will follow at Holmdel Cemetery/ Mausoleum 900 Holmdel Road, Holmdel, New Jersey 07733.
