Dorothy Cogliano Obituary

Dorothy A. Cogliano, a cherished matriarch and beacon of love, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2025, at the age of 94 in Keyport, New Jersey. Born on March 11, 1931, in South Amboy, New Jersey, Dorothy's life was a testament to the enduring power of love and family.

The daughter of the late Ruth (Carney) and John Edwin Headden, Dorothy grew up in Hazlet, New Jersey, where she would meet the love of her life, Carmen Cogliano. Their union, which began on June 15, 1947, was filled with devotion and joy. Together, they built a life in Hazlet, nurturing a family that would be Dorothy's pride and joy.

An avid Bingo player, Dorothy's competitive spirit and joy for the game were infectious. Her hands were rarely still, as she found solace and pleasure in crocheting, creating beautiful pieces that will serve as tangible reminders of her love and talent. Dorothy's love for travel brought her to many places, sharing these adventures with her sister-in-law and friends. Her kitchen was a place of warmth, where the aroma of her baking and cooking filled the home, and her recipes will be treasured and passed down through generations.

Though she was predeceased by her beloved husband, Carmen, her daughter Diane Fleming, her granddaughter Stacy Cable, and her siblings Edward, George, Joseph, Dale, and Clarence Headden, and Ruth Perricone, Dorothy's legacy of love continues through her surviving family.

Dorothy's life was enriched by her loving children, Joseph Cogliano, Daniel Cogliano, Janet Lee Stark and her husband, Scott, John "Jack" Cogliano, Alan Cogliano, and Patricia Cogliano and her companion Paul Fasano. Her warmth and guidance were a constant presence in their lives. Dorothy is also survived by her dear daughters-in-law Renee Cogliano-Newmeyer and Donna Cogliano, her cherished sister, Charlotte Frisch, her treasured grandchildren, John Folscher, Linda Moffitt and her husband Bill, Eddie Ricca,  Danielle Gratton, Joseph "JC" Cogliano, Nicole Schaefer, Kevin Cable, Dana Webb, Matthew Cogliano, and Jayme Gordano, and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.  All Dorothy’s family, especially her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she took immense pride in their every achievement and milestone. Dorothy’s memory will be forever cherished and honored, always.

In respect of Dorothy’s wishes, she will be privately cremated.  Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation on Saturday, November 22, 2025, from 1:00 to 4:00 PM at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730.  In lieu of flowers, donations in loving memory of Dorothy to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, would be greatly appreciated.  To donate, please visit, alzfdn.org.
