Doris Carroll Obituary

Doris Carroll, 95, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on March 3, 2026, at Complete Care in Holmdel, New Jersey. Born on September 23, 1930, in Indianapolis, Indiana, Doris's life was a testament to her unwavering devotion to her family, her faith, and her community.

Doris's early years in Indiana were filled with love and laughter, setting the stage for the life she would build with her beloved husband, Joe.  Doris and Joe met while he was stationed in Indiana with the U.S. Army and were married on June 27, 1953.  Soon after, they moved to Philadelphia, then settled in Hazlet in 1958, where Doris dedicated herself to raising her family, creating a home filled with love.

After her children started school, Doris served as a Medical Assistant for Dr. Baumlin's pediatric office in Holmdel, New Jersey, where her caring nature made her a favorite among patients and colleagues alike. Her work was not just a job but a calling, as she provided comfort and care to countless children and their families over the years.

Doris's faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she was deeply involved in St. Benedict Church in Holmdel, New Jersey. She served as a Eucharistic Minister and was a steadfast volunteer at the church's food pantry, as well as volunteering with Bayshore Community Hospital for 25 years.

Those who knew Doris will remember her as loving, funny, and kind. Doris was a friend to many, always ready with a listening ear or a helping hand. Her love for her family was boundless, and she was devoted to each of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She was the daughter of the late Anna (Gordon) and Floyd "Bill" Barlow. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Joe, with whom she shared a beautiful life together. Doris was also preceded in death by her brothers, Tom and Ed Barlow, and her son-in-law, Bob Smith.

Doris's legacy is carried on by her adoring children: Susan Smith, Peggy Brady and her husband Brian, Mary O'Shaughnessy and her husband Chris, Bill Carroll and his wife Karen, John Carroll, and Catherine Rossi and her husband Dave. She was a proud grandmother to Logan and her husband Jordan, Shane and his wife Thania, Collin and his wife Elizabeth, Connor, Christopher II, Meaghan, Matthew and his wife Koryn, Angelina, Mitchell and his wife Fifi, and Luke.  She also leaves behind her cherished great-grandchildren, Reagan, Kayden, Christopher III, Elise, Jordan, Sofia, and Liam.

Doris will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her, but her spirit will continue to guide and comfort her family and friends.
