Dominic J. Tropea, 90, of Hazlet, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 17, 2020 at Care One Nursing home in Holmdel, NJ. He was born on October 5, 1929 in Matawan, New Jersey. Dominic is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Marie Tropea, of Hazlet, NJ, his daughter, Theresa Tropea of Egg Harbor Township, NJ, and his son, Joseph Tropea of Aberdeen, NJ. He is also survived by two grandsons, Nicolas and Michael Augusto, who were his pride and joy, and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Tropea retired in 1995 as a craftsman with the Port Authority of NY/NJ. He also worked for many years with Hansen VanWinkle and M&T Chemicals in Matawan, NJ. He served honorably in the US Army during the Korean Conflict from 1951 to 1953. Dominic was also a former Eucharistic minister at St. Benedict Roman Catholic Church, as well as an avid golfer, bowler, a charter member of the Matawan Italian-American Association and a die-hard Yankee fan. Dominic will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730. Due to the current COVID-19 health crisis, visitation and services will be held privately for immediate family only. Dominic will be entombed at Holmdel Cemetery Mausoleum, 900 Holmdel Road, Holmdel, New Jersey 07733. A memorial Mass and repast will be held for family and friends at a later date.
