Diane Keefe Obituary

Diane L. Keefe, age 81, of Hazlet, New Jersey, passed away on July 8, 2026, surrounded by her family, and the love and memories of a life devoted to family, kindness, and grace.

Born on January 11, 1945, in Teaneck, New Jersey, Diane was the daughter of the late John and Evelyn (Spencer) Coughlin. She grew up in Union Beach, New Jersey, where she met the love of her life, Jack Keefe. Their bond grew into a lifelong partnership, and they were married on June 9, 1962. Together, they made their home in Hazlet, where they built a beautiful life and raised their children with devotion, strength, and unwavering love.

Diane was a beautiful woman whose presence brought warmth and comfort to everyone around her. She was loving, generous, and kind, and she carried those qualities into every part of her life. She was the heart of her family, first as a daughter and sister, and later as a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother -- a true matriarch. Her family was the center of her world, and she gave them her time, her care, and her steady encouragement in countless ways. She will be lovingly remembered as an “idealist,” someone who found joy in creating special moments and making every gathering feel meaningful.

After raising her four children, Diane worked as an executive assistant and human resources professional in the healthcare and pharmaceutical industry. She was respected for her professionalism, reliability, and strong work ethic. Those who knew her understood that she brought the same thoughtfulness and commitment to her work that she brought to her home and family life.

Diane especially cherished get-togethers with loved ones. She had a remarkable gift for making celebrations special and memorable. Holiday gatherings were among her favorite times of year, and she took great pride in making everything festive and welcoming. Her home and her table reflected her generous spirit, and her efforts created cherished memories for those fortunate enough to share in them. She remained very active throughout her adult life and found joy in staying connected to the people and traditions she loved.

Diane was predeceased by her beloved husband, Jack Keefe; her parents, John and Evelyn Coughlin; her mother and father-in-law, Elizabeth and John Keefe; her sisters, Colette Murray and Loretta Borman; and her sister-in-law, Joann Coughlin.

She is survived by her loving children, John J. Keefe and his wife Donna, Jim Keefe and his wife Sharon, Patrick Keefe and his wife JoAnne, and Coleen Hook and her husband Dana. She is also survived by her dear siblings, Dennis Coughlin and his wife Liz, Kathy Harriott and her husband Mike, Danny Coughlin, John Coughlin and his wife Sharon, and Bill Coughlin and his wife Kim; her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Herb Keefe and his wife Denise, Gene Keefe and his wife Dorcas, Ronnie Keefe, Betty Ann Negron and her husband Bob, and Dawn Cosentino and her husband Tony; her cherished grandchildren, Shannon, Erin, Katie, Mackenzie and her husband Mike, Morgan, Megan and her husband Nandi, Mallory, Madi, Steven, Michael, David, Tristin, Dianna, Justin, and Meghan; and her adored great-grandchildren, Austin and Ally.

Diane will be remembered always for her loving heart, her generous spirit, and the kindness she extended so freely to her family and all who knew her. She will be greatly missed, always loved and never forgotten. In lieu of flowers, a donation in loving memory of Diane may be made to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org.
