Delizia "Lee" Garozzo, a cherished matriarch and beacon of love, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2026, in Holmdel, New Jersey, at the age of 91. Born on February 6, 1935, in the sun-kissed land of Sicily, Italy, Delizia was the beloved daughter of Salvatore and Teresa (Frasca) Migliorisi, both of whom preceded her in death, as did her devoted husband, Joseph "Giuseppe" Garozzo, and her son-in-law, Joseph Stanzione.
The year 1957 was a big one for Delizia. She married the love of her life in Sicily before making their journey to America, where they moved to Brooklyn, New York, bringing with her the warmth of her Italian roots. She later found her forever home in Hazlet, New Jersey, in 2019, where she continued to nurture her family with the same love and care that she was known for. Her life was a testament to her strength and her ability to create beauty, a skill she honed throughout her career as a retired seamstress for the International Ladies Garment Workers Union.
Her interests were a reflection of her vibrant spirit; she loved to dance and was often described as the life of the party, bringing joy and laughter to all occasions. Some often referred Delizia and her late husband as "Lucy and Desi," a nod to their playful and loving relationship.
Delizia's hands were rarely still, as she found joy in sewing and cooking for her family, creating not just garments and meals, but memories that would last a lifetime. She was a woman who never had a bad word to say, and she was taught—and in turn taught others—to be respectful and grounded.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication in her family, including her daughter Lucia Stanzione, her sons Frank Garozzo and Salvatore Garozzo with his wife Emily, her cherished grandchildren Crystal Mignone and her husband Robert, Anthony Stanzione, Mason Garozzo, and Lucas Garozzo, her loving sister Dora Colonna and her husband Dario, her brother Carlo Migliorisi and his wife Cammy, and her sister-in-law Stella Cerruto and her husband John. Delizia was also a cherished aunt to many adoring nieces and nephews.
Delizia "Lee" Garozzo will be remembered as the embodiment of love and the heart of her family. Her legacy will continue to flourish in the lives of those she touched. Her memory will be a guiding light, reminding us to live with kindness, respect, and joy. Delizia's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with the threads of love, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
