David Celestina

David Celestina, 86, of Middletown, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, January 9, 2022.  David was born on October 26, 1935, in Staten Island, New York, where he grew up.  After marriage, David and his wife, Filomena, began raising their family in Staten Island, where they remained until settling in Middletown, New Jersey in 1978.  Before his retirement, David was a general contractor where he owned Crown Construction and D.D. Celestina Construction.  He was also a union mason for many years.

In David’s younger years, he did road racing with his Alfa Romeo.  In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, competitive archery, playing poker at the tables in Atlantic City, and was an avid Numismatist.  He also enjoyed traveling with his wife and spending as much time with his family and friends, especially at gatherings surrounded by delicious home-made food and a good glass of scotch.  Most of all, David was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many.  He will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

He was predeceased by his parents, Dominick and Emma Celestina and his beloved and devoted wife, Filomena.  David is survived by his loving children, Craig Celestina and his wife, Joyce, of Demarest, New Jersey, and Nancy D’Andrea and her husband, Joseph, of Basking Ridge, New Jersey, and his cherished grandchildren, Daniel Celestina, Rebecca Celestina, and Alexander D’Andrea.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday morning, January 12, 2021, at 10:30 AM at St. Catharine Roman Catholic Church, 108 Middletown Road, Holmdel, New Jersey 07733.  Entombment will follow at Holmdel Cemetery Mausoleum, 900 Holmdel Road, Holmdel, New Jersey 07733.  A memorial repast will not be held after the entombment.  Rather, an event will be arranged for later this year.  In lieu of flowers, donations in loving memory of David to the Parkinson’s Foundation would be greatly appreciated.  To donate, please visit, www.parkinson.org.  For information, directions, or to send condolences to the family, please visit, www.shorepointfh.com.
