Damarida Napoletano, 93, of Staten Island, New York, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 17, 2020 at Clove Lakes Nursing Home in Staten Island. She was born Damarida Alberga on June 15, 1926 in Bari, Italy, where she grew up. While living in Italy, Damarida met her beloved husband, Antonio, and they were married on April 19, 1952. They began their married life together in Italy and in 1955, moved to Canada where they remained until they immigrated to the United States in 1968, settling in Brooklyn, New York. In 1991, Damarida and Antonio relocated to Staten Island, New York, where they remained. Before her retirement, Damarida worked for the International Ladies' Garment Workers' Union as a Seamstress for many years. Most of all, Damarida was the adored matriarch of her family. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Anna (Iacobellis) Alberga, and her beloved and devoted husband, Antonio Napoletano. Damarida is survived by her loving children, Antoinette Mammaro and her husband, Frank, of Staten Island, and Marco Napoletano and his wife, Michele, of Staten Island, her cherished grandchildren, Marie Pastena, Frank Mammaro and his wife, Kelly, Anthony Napoletano and his wife, Sara Ann, Daniel Mammaro and his wife, Christine, and Jillian Napoletano, along with her adored great grandchildren, Gianna, Lorenzo, Frankie, Haley, Marco and Daniel. Damarida will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
Arrangements were entrusted to Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730. Due to the current COVID-19 health crisis, visitation and services will be held privately for immediate family only. Damarida will be laid to rest with her beloved husband, Antonio, at Resurrection Cemetery in Staten Island, New York.
