Cynthia B. Mitchell

Cynthia Bernadette Mitchell died peacefully on October 27, 2024, at 84.

Born April 30th, 1940, in the village of Vincennes, St. David, Grenada, Cynthia immigrated to the United States in 1967. Before she migrated to the US she was a school teacher and earned the respect of many as a disciplinarian that became affectionately known as "Teacher Cynthia". 

 She is survived by her four siblings, Martin, Anthony, Olivia (in the UK), and Nerissa. Her many nieces and nephews will also fondly remember her. She will also be remembered by many friends and associates including the Greenidge, Purcell, Noel, and Mitchell families in Grenada, the US, Canada and the UK.

Cynthia was the matriarch of her family in Grenada and continued in this role in the US until her passing. She was a loving daughter, sister, and aunt, she will be deeply missed and forever cherished for her kindness, warmth, and love.

Cynthia made significant contributions to charities for the poor and needy and championed causes like climate change and environmental protection, adult education, and youth advocacy. She dedicated 30 years of her career to Wall Street, while also earning a master’s degree in finance from New York University.

Cynthia loved reading, and watching football, basketball, and baseball games and adored her four cats, who were the joy of her life and will miss her dearly.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Saturday, November 9, 2024, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey. A prayer service will be offered at the funeral home at approximately 10:45 AM, with interment to follow at Saint Joseph Cemetery, 360 Broadway, Keyport, New Jersey 07735.
