Cruz F. Rios

Cruz F. Rios, 85, of Cliffwood, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on January 6, 2025.  Cruz was born on May 3, 1939, in Caguas, Puerto Rico, where he grew up.  In 1957, he relocated to Spring Lake, New Jersey.  In May of 1981, he met his beloved wife, Consuelo, and on October 8, 1981, they were married and began their life together in Brooklyn, New York.  Shortly after, they moved to the Bronx, where they remained for 10 years before settling in Cliffwood, New Jersey, to raise their family.  Prior to his retirement, Cruz worked as a fabric cutter for T & B Leather in Manhattan, New York.

Cruz was a die-hard New York Yankees fan.  In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening; he loved his plants and one of his favorite things to do was spend all day in his yard.  Most of all, Cruz was very family oriented.  He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and adored his family.  He will be greatly missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

He was predeceased by his parents, Eusebio and Dominga (Medina) Rios, his daughter, Lynn Solimine, and multiple brothers and one sister.  Cruz is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 43 years, Consuelo (Zapata) Rios, and his loving children, Cruz Rios of Neptune, Linda Ortiz and her husband, Antonio, of Howell, Joseph Rios and his wife, Madeline, of Ocean Twp., Andres Rios of Matawan, and Carolina Rios of Willingboro.  He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Jennifer, David, Natisha, Joey, Joey, and Kristal, 5 adored great grandchildren, his dear cousins, Maxine and Juan, many nieces and nephews, his wife’s family with whom he was very close with, and his Cliffwood neighbors who Cruz considered family.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Saturday morning, January 11, 2025, from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730.  A prayer service will be offered at the funeral home on Saturday morning at approximately 11:00 AM.  Entombment will follow at Marlboro Memorial Park Cemetery, 361 Route 79, Morganville (Marlboro Twp.), NJ 07751.  For information, directions, or to send condolences to the family, please visit, www.shorepointfh.com.
