Corrine Dorsi Obituary

Corrine Dorsi, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend to so many, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2026, at the age of 95, in Lincroft, New Jersey, surrounded by her family. Born on August 3, 1930, in Astoria, Queens, New York, to Carmine and Donata (Aliano) Porciello, Corrine came into the world as the youngest of ten children during the height of the Great Depression. From those humble and challenging beginnings, she grew into a woman of extraordinary strength, grace, and generosity, one whose life would touch countless others in ways both large and small.

Growing up in a large Italian family during difficult times shaped Corrine in profound ways. She learned early the value of resourcefulness, the importance of family, and the power of a warm home and a good meal. At the tender age of 19, she married Frank Angelo Dorsi, and together they began building a life and a family that would become the center of her world. They settled in Hazlet, New Jersey, where they raised seven children: Patricia, Frank, John, Gary, Richard, Diane, and Cherie. Their home was lively, full, and always welcoming, and Corrine never once perceived it as too small to accommodate those she loved and cared about. Her door was always open, whether to family, friends, or anyone seeking refuge, guidance, or simply a plate of food and a listening ear.

When Frank passed away unexpectedly, Corrine found herself a widow at just 51 years old. It was a loss that would have shaken anyone, but Corrine navigated life's challenges with remarkable dignity and grace, including learning to drive for the very first time after losing her husband. As the matriarch, she continued to prioritize her family above all else, ensuring that her children always had the warmth and stability they needed. In the years that followed, she proved time and again that the young girl born during the Depression had become a woman of incredible strength for all those who followed.

Corrine's devotion to her family was matched by a strong work ethic that earned her respect in every setting. She worked for ten years at Brookdale Nursing Home, where her dedication and reliability were recognized and deeply appreciated. She also built a successful housekeeping business, taking great pride in keeping her own home immaculate as well as the homes of the families she served. To Corrine, there was dignity in every kind of honest work, and she brought her full self to everything she did.

Beyond her professional life, Corrine was a woman who knew how to enjoy herself. She loved reading romance novels, playing cards with friends and family, and taking the occasional trip to Atlantic City to try her luck at the slots. She spent several wonderful years in Florida, where she enjoyed dining, shopping, and visiting with friends and family. She was passionate about recreating her mother's Italian dishes, and her kitchen was the heart of every gathering. Holiday celebrations at her home, on Long Beach Island, or in Ocean Grove became the stuff of family legend, filled with laughter, love, and those cherished Italian recipes that she passed down through the generations.

Those who knew Corrine will tell you that her laughter was contagious and her tears were genuine, both a testimony to a long life lived with authenticity. There was never any mistaking Corrine's sentiments, as her facial expressions could always tell the tale. She was kind, compassionate, and direct, and she played the role of second mom to many who were lucky enough to be part of her orbit.

Corrine was preceded in death by her parents, Carmine and Donata Porciello; her nine siblings; her beloved husband, Frank Angelo Dorsi; her daughter Patricia Trenet; her son John Dorsi; her daughter Diane Dorsi, and her grandson Serge Trenet. She is survived by her sons Frank Dorsi and his husband Larry Halpern, Gary Dorsi and his wife Donna, and Richard Dorsi and his wife Angela; her daughter Cherie Quinn and her husband John; her daughter-in-law Sharon Dorsi; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, with two more on the way; four great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

Corrine's life was a testament to devotion, resilience, and unconditional love. She raised her family with steady hands and a generous heart, giving of herself without hesitation. May she now find peace in the arms of the Lord and be reunited with those she loved who went before her. She leaves behind a family who will forever cherish her memory and a community that was made better by her kindness and generosity. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
