Clair Leonard, 84, of Hazlet, New Jersey, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, New Jersey. Clair was born on September 12, 1940, in Wilmerding, Pennsylvania, where he grew up and met his beloved wife, Marianne. Clair and Marianne were married on August 31, 1963, and after their marriage, settled in Hazlet, New Jersey, where they remained to raise their family. Before his retirement, Clair worked as a stationary engineer for Local #68. He was also a proud United States Navy Veteran. Most of all, Clair was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend to many. He will be greatly missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
He was predeceased by his parents, Constantine and Mary (Moyer) Leonard and nine dear siblings. Clair is survived by his beloved and devoted wife, Marianne (Kenyhercz) Leonard, his loving children, Marianne Goggins and her husband, Sean, of Hazlet, Steven Leonard and his wife, Jillian, of Sayreville, Kevin Leonard and his wife, Christina, of Hazlet, and Keith Leonard and his wife, Caroline, of Middletown, his dear sister, Isabelle LaRue, his sister-in-law, Carolyn Baker, and his cherished grandchildren, Patrick Goggins, Ryan Goggins, Mason Erickson, Connor Leonard, Matthew Leonard, Michael Leonard, Nicholas Leonard, Jack Leonard, Everly Leonard, and Kyla Leonard.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Monday, October 14, 2024, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM and Tuesday morning, October 15, 2024, from 8:45 to 9:30 AM at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, 727 Highway 36, Union Beach, New Jersey 07735. In respect of Clair’s wishes, he will be privately cremated. In lieu of flowers, donations in loving memory of Clair to the American Heart Association would be greatly appreciated.
