Charles R. Seelinger Sr., a man of love and selflessness, passed away peacefully at his home in Union Beach, New Jersey, on December 26, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on September 19, 1937, in Newark, New Jersey, Charles was the cherished son of the late Charles and Martha (Dunn) Seelinger. His life was a testament to the enduring power of devotion to family and community.
Charles's journey began in Newark, where he was raised with the values of hard work and compassion that would define his life. He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1954 to 1958 on the Ticonderoga and after his years of dedicated service, he and his shipmate hitch hiked from California back to Newark to return home. In 1959, he moved to Belford, New Jersey, where he met his soulmate and love of his life, Trenna "Maureen" King. They were wed on October 8, 1960, and their love blossomed into a lifelong partnership. Together, they built a loving home in Hazlet, where they raised their family, and later retired to the serene surroundings of Union Beach.
Charles's professional life was marked by his role as Plant Supervisor at Jersey Central Power and Light in South Amboy. His commitment to his work was unwavering, as he performed shift work tirelessly for many years, sacrificing for his family to ensure their well-being. His selflessness and dedication were the cornerstones of his career.
An avid New York Yankees fan, Charles found joy in the simple pleasures of life. His love for his family was paralleled only by his devotion to his faith. As a lifelong and active member of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church in Union Beach, he attended Mass every Sunday throughout his life, embodying the spirit of service and community.
A dedicated family man, Charles was predeceased by his beloved wife, Trenna Maureen Seelinger, and his son, Robert Reinecke. He leaves behind a legacy of love in his children, Francis Reinecke and wife Francine, of Toms River, Charlene Seelinger of Union, Charles Seelinger Jr. of Union Beach, Kevin Seelinger and wife Tina of Hazlet, and Joseph Seelinger and wife Susan of Union Beach. His memory will be cherished by his adoring grandchildren, Rita, Angela, Ashley, Robert, Valarie, Vincent, Taylor, Charles, Nicole, Jessica, Ryan, Lauren, Bobby, Lucas, Joseph Jr., Jordan, Asja, and Somer, and his treasured great-grandchildren, Ryla, Everly, Troy, Chandler, Mina, Lirra, Shephard, Beck, Ava, Trenna, and Ayden.
Charles was the epitome of a loving, selfless, and generous man. His presence was a comfort, his laughter a joy, and his guidance a steady hand for all who knew him. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will continue to inspire those he touched.
As we bid farewell to Charles, we celebrate a life well-lived, a heart well-loved, and a legacy that will endure through the generations. His was a life that truly made a difference, and he will be remembered with profound gratitude and love.
