Carol Giacona Obituary

Carol Giacona née Ryaness passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 28, 2022.

Born in Jersey City, Carol was predeceased by her parents, Elva and Felix Ryaness, and by her grandmother, Elva Hartley.

Carol is survived by her loving husband of sixty years, Joseph Giacona. Both born and raised in Jersey City, they remained there to raise their family before finally settling in the Atlantic Highlands. They cherished and cared for each other since the moment they met, and knew they would spend their lives together.

Also left to remember her are her children, Joseph Giacona Jr., Michael and Sheri Giacona, Diane and Neil Russo, Anne Marie and John Carlo, and Nancy Giacona. There are no good-byes for us, Mom.  Wherever you are, you will always be in our hearts.

One of Carol’s greatest joys were her grandchildren and gathering with them. She is mourned by Natalie and Matt Davis, Gina Carlo, Michael Giacona Jr., Anthony Russo, Dominic Russo, Elena Carlo, and Jaclyn Giacona. We know it was your time to go, but not having you here makes us sadder than you will ever know.

Also surviving is her brother, Edward Ryaness, his wife Catherine and their daughter Mary Ferrone, as well as her cousins, John and Jim Hartley.

Carol is also survived by her many nieces and nephews from the Marchitto, DeCicco, Heinis, Delaney, and Giacona, families, and by her cherished friends, Peter Stanich and Angelo and Lita Frushon.

Carol was fun-loving and adventurous.  Her adventures started when she turned 50 and traveled for the first time on a plane to Las Vegas.  She could not be stopped after that.  Together with her husband, she enjoyed more than 30 cruises during her life and traveled all around the United States, including Hawaii and Alaska.  Carol also enjoyed several trips to Europe.  Perhaps her most favorite adventure was heading down to Atlantic City on the Parkway.  Many times she would say she was going to Wal Mart.  We all knew where she was really going.  Carol will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
