Carmela Stabile, fondly known as “Mickey”, 86, of Jamaica, New York, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, May 18, 2023, at Bayshore Medical Center in Holmdel, New Jersey. She was born on September 17, 1936, in Brooklyn, New York, and grew up on Gates Avenue. In her adulthood approximately 60 years ago, Mickey settled in Jamaica, New York. Mickey worked for Scholastic Book Company for their Finance Department in Manhattan, New York, before retiring at 70 years old; concluding a 50 year career at the company. Above all else, she was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, and friend to many. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
She was predeceased by her parents, Diego and Frances (Klein) Stabile, her beloved siblings, Mary Roppola, Abraham Stabile, Mary Scardino, Anna Del Grosso, Florence Kless, Josephine Diamond, Jennie Bertino, and Dorothy Bertino, her special brother-in-law, Enzio Bertino, and her dear niece, Judy Graffam. Mickey is survived by her adoring nieces and nephews, Anna Kless, Frances Ciotti, Patricia Del Grosso, Donald Del Grosso, John Del Grosso, Paul Bertino, and Carl Bertino, along with 13 cherished great nieces and nephews, and 20 treasured great-great nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday, May 24th, 2023, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Leahy McDonald Funeral Home, 111-02 Atlantic Avenue, Richmond Hill, New York 11419. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday morning, May 25, 2023, at 10:30 AM at St. Nicholas of Tolentine Church, 150-75 Goethals Avenue, Queens, New York 11432. Entombment will follow at Mount St. Mary Cemetery, 172-00 Booth Memorial Avenue, Flushing, New York 11365.
