Calvin McMillen Obituary

Calvin W. McMillen, 96, of Hazlet, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 8, 2020 at Anchor Care and Rehabilitation Center in Hazlet, New Jersey.  Calvin was born on April 19, 1924 in Huron, Ohio. In 1945, he moved to West Orange, where he remained for many years, until moving to Piscataway in 2005.  Later in 2016 he moved to Cliffwood Beach, before recently settling in Hazlet in 2019. Before his retirement, Calvin worked as a butcher for Pathmark Supermarket of Parsippany, New Jersey. Calvin was also a proud United States Navy Veteran, having served our country during World War II. 

He was predeceased by his parents, his beloved and devoted wife, Edith (McNamara) McMillen, his granddaughter, Renay LeSoine, his great grandson, Eric McDonald and his son-in-law, Thomas LeSoine. Calvin is survived by his loving children, Maria E. LeSoine and her husband, Kenneth Johnstone of Cliffwood Beach, Michael McMillen of West Orange, and Paul McMillen and his wife, Mary Beth of Piscataway.  He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Doreen McDonald, Eddie LeSoine, Anthony McMillen, Tyler McMillen, and Jake McMillen and his adored great granddaughter, Jennifer McDonald.  Calvin will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

In respect of Calvin’s wishes, he was privately cremated.  Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation on Saturday, July 11, 2020 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.  A prayer service will be offered at the funeral home during visitation hours.  Interment of Calvin’s cremated remains will follow at 1:15 PM at Rosedale Cemetery, 408 Orange Road, Montclair, New Jersey. As per the regulations imposed through the State of New Jersey, there will now be a maximum of 50 persons allowed in the funeral home at one time.  In order to accommodate all of Calvin's family and friends, we ask that you please be brief while visiting in order to make room for additional guests to pay their respects; we thank you for your understanding during this time. Face protection is also required as per state regulations.
