Brenda Poyssick Obituary

Brenda Joyce Poyssick, 69 of Matawan passed away on March 17th surrounded by her family.

Brenda was the first of six children, born to Anthony and Brenda Ricci of Cliffwood.

Brenda was raised in Cliffwood and graduated from Matawan Regional High School. Brenda met the love of her life, Gerry, while working at Burlews Inn. They married in 1984 and settled in Tinton Falls until his passing in 2004.

Brenda was employed at Misco in Holmdel and Micro Warehouse in Lakewood where she was the number one sales person, winning many trips and bonuses for her efforts. She ended her career at Waterford Crystal in Wall Township.

Brenda and Gerry loved spending time with nieces and nephews. Their house was always the fun house to sleep at. Picnics and train rides at Allaire, Wildwood weekends, dying Easter eggs, and carving pumpkins were just some of  the fun activities.

Brenda cherished her trip to Europe with her aunts, uncles and cousins. She held dear memories of exploring historic sights, enjoying new and interesting foods and meeting her Italian family in Letto Manapello, Italy. She loved retelling the funny and heartfelt stories and memorable anecdotes from her trips abroad.

She found joy in being with her family. She loved their weekend trips to Trump Plaza in Atlantic City and the Astronaut in Wildwood Crest. Summers Upstate on the River were also a favorite of hers. Whether she was watching the sunset on the boat with Gerry enjoying a pot of espresso, getting treated to the Ridge Terrace by her brother after a day at Saratoga, or driving around with Daddy stopping at all the garage sales, good times were always had, and many memories made.

Brenda had a special bond with her sister Domenica Ann. She took pride in caring for her ensuring all her needs were met. Brenda took care in making sure she had her favorites, like iced coffee, donuts and ice cream. They spent many weekends together watching baseball and football enjoying simple appetizers with Ann sipping a beer and Brenda a glass of wine.

Brenda possessed many talents, however cooking wasn’t one of them. When tasked with bringing a dish to a holiday meal, she fiercely stuck with her three specialties, her legendary nut cups, Aunt Tootie’s cheesecake or a big bag of fresh carrots. She’ll be remembered for her wit, warmth and her commitment to never cooking an entire holiday meal.

Brenda was predeceased by her loving husband Gerry, her parents Anthony and Brenda Ricci, her brothers Frank Ricci & Dee Rudko, and her beloved companions Madison, Georgie, & Rocco. She is survived by her sisters and brothers-in-law Domenica Ann Ricci of Holmdel, Jerry & Marcella Coughlin of Holmdel, Doug & Honey Hay of Cliffwood and Sunny Rudko of Colts Neck. She is also survived by her Aunt Joan Collins of Maine, 9 nieces and nephews, 8 great nieces and nephews and many cousins.

In respect of Brenda's wishes, she will be privately cremated.  Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North was entrusted with Brenda's arrangements. For more information, or to send condolences to the family, please visit www.shorepointfh.com
