Blanche (Hendra) Sweeney

Blanche Sweeney, 93, of Hazlet, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, April 11, 2024.  She was born September 25, 1930, in Bayonne, New Jersey and grew up in Fairview, New Jersey.  On February 3, 1951, Blanche and her husband, John, were married and started their life together in Fairview.  Shortly after, in 1956, they settled in Union Beach, New Jersey, where they remained to raise their family.  Blanche was currently living in Hazlet.

Blanche was a devout and active parishioner of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church in Union Beach.  She was the past president of the Altar Rosary Society as well Rosarian of the year.  She was also a Girl Scout Leader for many years, and very involved in the Memorial School PTA, as well as Holy Family School PTA.  Above all else, Blanche adored her family and her children.  She was a steadfast supporter of everything her children did and all their accomplishments.  Blanche was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to many.  She will be greatly missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

She was predeceased by her parents, William and Emma (Hartmann) Hendra, her beloved husband, John E. Sweeney, and her son, John G. Sweeney.  Blanche is survived by her loving children, Carol Schultz and her husband, William, of Forked River, Janet Manochio and her husband, Alfonse, of Hazlet, Elizabeth A. Sweeney of Union Beach, Mark Sweeney and his wife, Beth, of Atlantic Highlands, and Paul Sweeney and his wife, Irene, of Union Beach, her dear brother, William Hendra, her cherished grandchildren, Carrie Birch and her husband, Tim, Scott Apel, David Apel, Caitlyn Sweeney, Alexandra Sweeney, and Ryan Sweeney, and her treasured great grandchildren, Kaylee, Timothy, and Tyler Birch.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Sunday, April 14, 2024, from 2:00 to 6:00 PM and Monday morning, April 15, 2024, from 10:30 to 11:15 AM at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway 35, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Monday afternoon, April 15, 2024, at 12:00 PM at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, 727 Highway/Route 36, Union Beach, New Jersey 07735.  Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery Mausoleum, 360 Broadway, Keyport, New Jersey 07735.  In lieu of flowers, donations in loving memory of Blanche to American Legion Post #321, 524 Front Street, Union Beach, NJ 07735, or Holy Family Roman Catholic Church in Union Beach, would be greatly appreciated.  For information, directions, or to send condolences to the family, please visit, www.shorepointfh.com.
