Bernadette Y. (Long) Merken

Bernadette Yolanda Merken, 65, of Holmdel, N.J., passed away on September 28, 2025, surrounded by the loves of her life—Allen, her husband of 42 years, and her daughters, Gabrielle and Anastasia. Bernadette was born in Bayonne, N.J., on October 12, 1959, to John and Barbara Long, raised in Howell, N.J., and graduated from Jersey City State College. For the last 27 years, she has resided in Holmdel where she was an active and involved member of the community. Bernadette was a real estate agent for Berkshire Hathaway and served as board member and administrator for Holmdel Cemetery. She enjoyed a great many things, but most of all she loved traveling, decorating for every holiday, and showering her daughters with affection. She is survived by countless friends and family members because to know Bernadette was to love her. Bernadette’s energy and generosity were abundantly clear to all who met her and her memory will be a blessing to all those whose lives she touched. 

Family and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 from 2:00 to 8:00 PM and Thursday morning, October 9, 2025 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730.  A prayer service will be offered at the funeral home on Thursday morning at approximately 10:30/10:45 AM.  Committal service and entombment will follow at Holmdel Cemetery Mausoleum, 900 Holmdel Road, Holmdel, New Jersey 07733.  For information, directions, or to send condolences to the family, please visit, www.shorepointfh.com.
