Barbara Ann Zentz, 82, of Hazlet, passed away peacefully on September 30th, 2021 at Bayshore Hospital. Barbara was born in Brooklyn, New York, and moved to the Bayshore area in the 1960’s where she remained. She married her dear husband Robert Zentz Jr. on June 23rd, 1990, who was an honored Veteran of the Navy, and served during World War II and Korea as a “Sea-Bee.” Barbara worked as a waitress, most recently at the Middletown Diner before retiring. She loved her country music, and was very fond of cardinals and owls. One of Barbara’s favorite things to do was to share a cup of coffee and a smoke with friends. She enjoyed gambling and trips to Atlantic City with her best friend Barbara Silva. She was very close with her granddaughter Faith Hallam, who always held a special place in her heart. Barbara was also known for her “gorgeous blue eyes.”
Barbara is predeceased by her husband of 31 years, Robert Zentz Jr., her father John Berntsen, her mother Irene Curren, her brother John Berntsen, and her beloved angel granddaughter Sarah Erickson, age 7. Barbara is survived by her children Roy “Gustav” Erickson, and his wife Laura, of Seattle, Washington, Denise Kellerher, and her husband Chip, of Hazlet, New Jersey, Thomas Erickson, and his wife Candi, of Highlands, New Jersey, John Miller, and his wife Jane, of Middletown, New Jersey, Barbara Schwarze, and her husband Joe of Union Beach, New Jersey, and Theodore Miller of Hazlet, New Jersey, her siblings Patricia, Darlene, Sandy, Peggy, Clif, Stevie, Debbie, and Drena , her 15 Grandchildren and 15 Great-Grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She will be deeply missed, and never forgotten.
