Barbara E. (Porter) McGuirl

Barbara E. McGuirl, 87, of Hazlet, passed away at home on Tuesday, July 23, 2024.  She was born in Bayonne and grew up in both Bayonne and Jersey City, New Jersey until she settled in Hazlet in 2004 to be closer to her children.  Over the years, she enjoyed spending her summers in her summer home in Wall, New Jersey.  Barbara worked for many years as an insurance agent for The Foley Agency in Bayonne. She was an extremely dedicated and devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister.  Barbara will be greatly missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

She was predeceased by her parents, Herbert Porter and Dorothy (Mellett) Porter, and her beloved husband, Vincent G. McGuirl. Barbara is survived by her loving children, Vincent McGuirl and his wife, Dalia of Laurence Harbor, Karen Dziedzic and her husband, Peter of Aberdeen and Maureen Helmus and her husband, John of Hazlet and her dear brother, Gary Porter and his wife, Emily, who was her best friend. Barbara is also survived by 7 cherished grandchildren, Kevin Dziedzic, Lauren Dziedzic, Lindsay Sofield and her husband, Connor, Logan (Fiancée Allie), Shannon (Fiancé Glenn), Gavin McGuirl and John Helmus IV; and her treasured great granddaughter, Sienna Barbara Sofield.

Barbara’s greatest joy in life was being with her family. She loved connecting with family and friends through Facebook and social media. She was everyone’s biggest supporter. She loved to shop on QVC, was an avid reader, enjoyed watching movies on the Hallmark Channel, and never missed an episode of Judge Judy. Barbara was truly loved by anyone that knew her and will be sincerely missed by all.

Arrangements were entrusted to Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, NJ 07730.  In respect of Barbara’s wishes, she will be privately cremated and all services following will remain private.
