Barbara McGlyn, 59, a loving and passionate woman with a strong spirit and a generous heart, passed away at Bayshore Medical Center in Holmdel, New Jersey surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 28, 1967, in Brooklyn, New York, where she was raised and began a life that would be marked by devotion to family, enduring friendships, and a deep appreciation for life’s simple joys.
Barbara was the beloved wife of 32 years to James McGlyn, and together they built a life rooted in love, loyalty, and shared memories. They were married on August 12, 1995, and began their life together in Brooklyn before settling in Cliffwood Beach twenty-four years ago, where they raised their daughters and created a loving home together. Barbara was a devoted mother, and her love for her girls was unwavering and evident in all that she did.
Barbara’s life was defined by the love she gave so freely to those around her. She had a contagious laugh that could fill a room and bring a smile to everyone’s face, and her presence had a way of making others feel welcome. She was strong, outspoken, and opinionated, carrying the unmistakable traits of a true Brooklyn girl at heart, yet she was also deeply loving and possessed a huge heart. Those who knew Barbara will remember her for her honesty, her warmth, and the way she stood firmly for the people and values she loved.
She found joy in the everyday moments that brought family and friends together. Barbara loved to garden and cook, and she took pride in creating beauty and comfort in her home. She enjoyed all types of card games and the friendly competition and laughter they inspired. She especially loved spending time at the beach, where she collected seashells and enjoyed the peace of the shoreline. Vacations with her family were among her happiest times, and the holidays held a special place in her heart because they brought everyone together in the way she cherished most.
Barbara was predeceased by her father, Tadeusz Iwachow. She is survived by her beloved husband, James McGlyn, her loving daughters, Nicole A. McGlyn and Meagan E. McGlyn, and her adoring mother, Krystyna Iwachow. She is also survived by her dear siblings, Joanna Delgado and her husband Anthony, and Gregory Iwachow and his wife Teresa, as well as many cherished friends and extended family members who will forever hold her close in their hearts.
Barbara will be remembered as a woman of great love, passion, and strength. Her family and friends will carry forward the lessons she taught through her example, including the importance of speaking one’s mind, loving deeply, and finding joy in the company of those who matter most. Barbara will be dearly missed and forever remembered with love by all who were blessed to share in her life.
