Arthur Joseph DaPonte, 90, of Matawan, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by the love of his family, on Friday, September 26, 2025. Arthur was born on May 26, 1935, in Brooklyn, New York, where he grew up. While living in Brooklyn, he met the love of his life, Edna Barton, they later married on August 16, 1958. In 1967 they moved to New Dorp, Staten Island, New York and in 1970, they moved to Matawan, New Jersey, where they remained. Arthur served his country heroically and honorably in the United State Air Force during the Koran War, from 1953 to 1957. He was a dedicated Hatch Checker for Maher Terminals, Port Newark, New Jersey, where he worked for over 50 years.
Arthur was an avid TV watcher, he especially enjoyed watching western and classic movies.
Arthur is predeceased by his parents, Vincent and Phyllis (Nuccio) DaPonte and his beloved wife, Edna (Barton) DaPonte. He is survived by his loving children, Donna Fiorillo and her husband Joseph, Vincent Andrew Da Ponte and his wife Myralitz Ortiz and Dean Arthur Da Ponte and his wife Shirley, his caring brother, Andrew DaPonte and his wife Catherine, his adored grandchildren, Owen Henry, Valerie Henry and Vincent DaPonte and his cherished great grandson, Joseph D’Zuro. Arthur was a wonderful son, husband, father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather. He will be greatly missed, always loved and never forgotten.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730.
