Arnold J. Benecchi, 88, of Bloomfield, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 11, 2020 at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank. Arnold was born on February 29, 1932 in Newark, New Jersey, where he grew up. In 1951, Arnold entered the United States Air Force and fought for our country during the Korean War. After he was discharged from the Air Force, Arnold lived in various places. He spent 15 years living in San Diego, California and a few years ago returned to New Jersey, settling in Bloomfield. Before retirement, Arnold worked as a warehouse employee for A & P Supermarket in Edison for many years. In his spare time, Arnold enjoyed visiting museums and zoo's, especially the San Diego Zoo, which was his favorite. He also loved to travel, visit New York City, and fish.
He was predeceased by his parents, Arnold T. and Nellie (Concato) Benecchi. Arnold is survived by his loving brother, Donald R. Benecchi Sr. and his wife, Edith, of Bloomfield, his cherished niece and nephews, Brenda Petruzzi and her husband, Ralph, and Donald Benecchi Jr., five dear great nieces and nephews, and six adored great-great nieces and nephews, along with many treasured extended family members and friends. Arnold will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
Arrangements were entrusted to Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730. In respect of Arnold's wishes, he will be privately cremated. Arnold's cremated remains will be entombed at Holy Cross Cemetery Mausoleum, 340 Ridge Road, North Arlington, New Jersey, on Thursday, July 16, 2020 at 1:00 PM.
