Arlene A Bagala

Arlene A "Bunny" Bagala, 87, of Hazlet, New Jersey passed away on Monday, February 16, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. Arlene was born in Jersey City, N.J. on July 22, 1938, a daughter of the late Leslie J. Saxe, Sr. and Grace Howard Saxe. She lived in the Bayshore area for most of her life.  The majority of Bunny's working career was spent as a bus driver at Bennett/Helfrich & Son Bus Company in Hazlet. She loved spending time with friends and family galivanting; trips to Atlantic City, going to bingo, regular visits to Perkins and McDonald's for a Happy Meal. Arlene was an avid sports fan, especially the N.Y. Yankees.  She loved her game shows, Kelly Clarkson, fishing, crabbing, and horse track!

She was predeceased by her husband, Carmelo "Sonny" Bagala (2002), her granddaughter, Susan Svenson (1983), her siblings Katherine "Kay" Smith, Theresa "Bea" Stockwell, Laura Massalogo, Saxe, Jr. and William "Bill" Saxe. Arlene is survived by her loving daughters Pamela A Bagala, of Greentown, P.A. Carla Haynes of Toms River, N.J. and three sons Carl and Rita, of Gorham, M.E, James and Susan Svenson, of South Toms River, N.J., Mark and Ann Bagala, of Gray, M.E. Her brother Edward and Maureen "Mickey" Saxe, of Hazlet, N.J. 9 grandchildren (10 great-grandchildren) Tara (Courtney, Cadence, Cali, Chelsi), Nicole (Ryan & Cassidy), Marcus (Ren), Grace Marie (Stanley & Wesley), Samuel, Jamie, Gabrielle, Sarah (Arya), and Karlee.  Arlene leaves behind her beloved nephew Tony & wife Karen Sattilaro and great nephew Vincent of South Amboy, N.J. and 2 great-great grandsons, Jaxson & Colytn. Arlene will be missed by all whose life she has touched

Arrangements were entrusted to Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc.,3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey  07730. In respect of Arlene's wishes,she will be privately cremated.  A celebration of life for Arlene will be announced at a later date.
