Anne M. Hogan, 96, of Hazlet, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 16, 2020 at Bayshore Health Care and Rehabilitation Center in Holmdel, New Jersey. We share in the heavy heart of saying goodbye for now to Anne Hogan. Her love of life, friends and family drew everyone to her and we know she will be deeply missed in so many ways.
Anne died as she lived with strong spirit, faith and a strength that went well beyond her petite frame.
She worked at Sears Roebuck and Co. in Perth Amboy prior to starting a family. While there, she was the manager and buyer for both women's and children's apparel and departments.
She was a communicant at St. Benedict's Roman Catholic Church in Holmdel, New Jersey, where she served as Eucharistic Minister for 50 years. She coordinated the nursing home ministry, which was established by her husband, offering prayer services and communion to those in need.
She was always an organizer and over the years while busy raising her family, she was also a Girl Scout leader, President of PTO Raritan High School (Hazlet Township) and Vice President of Knights of Colombus Auxiliary. Later on she belonged to the Hazlet Seniors and St. Clement's Seniors Matawan. She was a graduate of Perth Amboy Vocational School. Born in Perth Amboy, she lived in Cliffwood Beach, before moving to Hazlet 63 years ago.
Anne Hogan was predeceased by her loving husband, Patrick in March of 2000, her parents, her sister, Mary Kennedy, Susan Knepper, and Helen Kopac, and brothers, James Holovacko, John Holovacko, and Charles Holovacko.
Surviving are her two daughters Anne Valentino (Al Valentino) of Hazlet and Kathleen Douglas (Brian Douglas) of Half Moon Bay, California, two grandsons, Anthony Valentino of Old Bridge and Patrick Valentino (Jessica Valentino) and great grandson, Charlie Clayton Valentino of Tewksbury, MA, her sister, Lillian Hahn, and many nieces and nephews.
She found immense joy sharing her life, love and laughter with her beloved husband, family and friends. She traveled extensively whether cruises or bus trips and played lots of Bingo and the slot machines in AC (and sometimes even won). She loved music, dancing and symphony - especially when her grandson, Patrick, was conducting.
Her life centered on her family and friends whom she cherished.
