Anna C Tigar

Anna C. Tigar, a loving, faith-filled, and selfless woman, passed away on August 12, 2026, at Ocean Medical Center in Brick, New Jersey, surrounded by the love and prayers of those who cherished her. She was born on August 22, 1952, in Brooklyn, New York, and lived a life marked by devotion to her family, her faith, and her calling as a nurse. Her warmth, kindness, and steady presence touched everyone who knew her, and her memory will remain a blessing to all who were fortunate enough to share in her life.

Anna grew up in Brooklyn, where she met the love of her life, Ronald Tigar, while they were both in junior high school. Their friendship blossomed into a lifelong love, and they were married on July 10, 1971. Together, they built a beautiful life centered on family, faith, and hard work. They raised their children in Brooklyn before moving to Staten Island in 1992 and later settled in Hazlet, New Jersey, in 2007, where they remained and created many cherished memories with their loved ones.

A dedicated and proud registered nurse for forty-three years, Anna devoted her career to caring for others with compassion and dignity. She began her nursing journey at Saint Vincent’s Catholic Medical Center in Manhattan, New York, where she gained the respect of colleagues and patients alike through her skill and gentle manner. At the time of her passing, she was working with Preferred Home Care Agency in West Chester, New York, continuing to serve others with the same commitment that defined her entire professional life. Her work as a nurse was more than a career. It was a true expression of her generous heart and her desire to ease the suffering of others.

Anna also shared her talents and creativity in a special family venture, helping to start an organic dog treat business called Ya Ya’s Yum Yum’s with her daughter Anna and her grandchildren. This endeavor reflected her playful spirit, her love for family, and her joy in creating something meaningful together. She found happiness in the simple and beautiful moments of life, especially cooking, baking, and going to the beach. These pleasures were made even more special when shared with those she loved most.

Her faith was an important part of her life, and she was a devoted member of Saint Benedict Roman Catholic Church in Holmdel, New Jersey. As a Christian, Anna lived her beliefs through her actions, offering kindness, patience, and encouragement to others. She was known for her generous heart and for the way she made people feel welcomed, cared for, and valued.

Anna was predeceased by her beloved husband of 54 years, Ronald Tigar, on November 22, 2025, her devoted mother Anna (DeSalvo) Corbin, her caring God mother, Catherine and her fur baby, King Benjamin. She is survived by her loving children, William Tigar and his wife Kelly of Hazlet, New Jersey, and Anna Winkelman, also of Hazlet, New Jersey. She was the adored grandmother of Kristen, William, and Ronald, who were the light of her life and brought her endless joy and pride. Also surviving are her brother, Ken and her sister-in-laws, Betty Hassett and Dolores Vollaro, her lifelong sister/ friend Gail Ferguson and her husband Brian.  Also left behind are many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will forever treasure her memory. Lastly, she is survived by her fur babies Franklin and Luna.

Anna’s greatest joy was her family, and she devoted herself to them with unwavering love and care. She was happiest when surrounded by those she held dear, making memories that will be carried forward by generations to come. She will be greatly missed, always loved and never forgotten.
