Anna Tierney

Anna Tierney (nee DeCicco) of Whiting, N.J. passed away peacefully on May 22, 2020. Anna was born in Downtown Jersey City on November 16, 1927 and was raised and educated in Jersey City. She lived for a time in Staten Island, N.Y., before moving to Crestwood Village in Whiting, N.J. in 1991, where she enjoyed her retirement.

Anna is predeceased by her parents, Caroline (nee Simone) and Salvatore DeCicco; her brothers, Frank and Salvatore; and her sisters, Antoinette DeCicco, Jennie Slayton, and Ida Mikulski (better known as The Sisters). She is also predeceased by her husband, James (Jimmy) Tierney, her loving son, James Michael (Jamzie), and her precious granddaughter, Melissa.

Anna is survived by her two daughters, Debra Tierney Flores and her husband, Wolf, of Mays Landing and Cynthia Miller and her husband, Robert, of Hazlet; and the apple’s of her eye - her two grandson’s, Brian Miller of Hazlet and Christopher Flores of East Rutherford, and her granddaughter, Veronica Flores and great-granddaughter, Adannah Amana Flores of Cali Colombia.  Anna is also survived by many, many nieces and nephews.

Anna was adored by her very large extended family whom she loved to spend time with. She also loved spending time with her many friends she made over the years at Crestwood Village. She joined many clubs and organizations and loved playing with her poker table friends, whom she called The Gang.

Anna had many jobs throughout her life, including her longest job at G.C. Murphy’s. She was a great cook and an amazing baker. Anna was a kind, loving, and generous woman who will be missed greatly by all who knew and loved her.

Arrangements were entrusted to Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730.  Due to the current COVID-19 health crisis, visitation and services will be held privately for immediate family only. Please notify the family if you wish to attend the service. The family asks for your understanding during this time.  When we are permitted, the family will have a Catholic memorial mass to celebrate her life.
