Ann J. Bennett, 75, of Keyport, New Jersey, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at home on Thursday, January 23, 2025. She was born Ann J. Gill on May 1, 1949, in Belize, Central America, where she was raised by her grandmother in the Pomona Valley. In 1969, she immigrated to the United States, starting her life in Manhattan, New York. Shortly after in 1970, she settled in Cliffwood, New Jersey, where she began her life together with her husband, Claude. Ann and Claude were currently residing in Keyport, where they raised their family and provided an open door to countless others for nearly five decades. Before her retirement, Ann worked as a teacher for the Neptune Township Board of Education for many years, greatly impacting the lives of her students and their families. Most importantly, Ann was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to many. She will be greatly missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
She was predeceased by her parents, George B. Gill and Evelyn (Lahoodie) Garnett, and her brother, Lloyd Gill. Ann is survived by her beloved and devoted husband, Claude A. Bennett, her loving children, Claude M. Bennett and his fiancée, Michelle Flaum, Marlon Bennett and his wife, Gabriella, and Deron J. Bennett and his wife, Christine, and her dear siblings, Joslyn Gill and his wife, Juanita, Lorris Grant, George Gill, Michael Gill, Elvis Garnett and his wife, Alice, Brenda Garnett, Lawrence Garnett and his wife, Cheryl, Laverne Garnett and her wife, Cassandra, Maureen Garnett, and Denise Garnett. Ann also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Victor, Marlon Jr., Alexis, Marisela, Malcolm, Marco, Manasseh, Joshua, Savannah, Benjamin, Jeremiah, Mary, and Naomi, and her adored great grandson, Jayden.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday, February 4th, 2025, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730. A church service will be offered on Wednesday, February 5th, 2025, at 12:30 PM at St. John’s United Methodist Church, 2000 Florence Avenue, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730.
