Anita V. (Slater) Wilkinson

Anita V. Wilkinson, 95, of Brooklyn, New York, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2020 at Bayside Manor in Keansburg, New Jersey. She was born Anita V. Slater on January 27, 1925 in Brooklyn, New York. Anita was a lifelong resident of Brooklyn, New York.  She was a founding member and communicant of Saint Bernard of Clairvaux Roman Catholic Church, and a lifetime member and Past President of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 1060. She was an avid game player, a highly competitive opponent in ladies Canasta and May I, and Words with Friends when she joined the electronic age.  She was both a singles and doubles champion in bocce at Breezy Point Surf Club where she and her husband Jack spent decades of summers.

Anita was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Rose Morris Slater, and her beloved husband of 70 years John J. Wilkinson. Anita was the dearly loved matriarch of her family of five.  She is survived by her beloved children John B. Wilkinson and his wife Maryellen of N. Arlington, New Jersey, Rosemarie Wilkinson of Holmdel, New Jersey, Eileen Fisher and her husband Jim of Fort Mill, South Carolina, Maureen McCabe and her husband Gerard of Brooklyn, New York, Kathleen Wilkinson of Brooklyn, New York along with her cherished 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She will be sadly missed but never forgotten.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Friday, June 19, 2020 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730.  Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St Catharine Roman Catholic Church, 108 Middletown Road, Holmdel, New Jersey 07733 on Saturday June 20, 200 at 9:00 AM. Interment will follow at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Brooklyn, New York.

 As per the regulations imposed through the State of New Jersey, there will now be a maximum of 50 persons allowed in the funeral home at one time.  In order to accommodate all of Anita's family and friends, we ask that you please be brief while visiting in order to make room for additional guests to pay their respects; we thank you for your understanding during this time.
