Angelina J. Kelligan, passed away peacefully at her home in Hazlet, New Jersey, surrounded by her loving family on December 21, 2025, at the age of 93. Born on January 21, 1932, in Newark, New Jersey, Angelina's life was a testament to the enduring power of love and the strength of family bonds.
The daughter of the late Anthony and Marianne (Vitanzo) Apostolico, Angelina grew up in a warm and nurturing environment that shaped her into the compassionate person she was. She met her soulmate, Thomas Kelligan and the two were inseparable from the moment they met. They married and together they built a life filled with joy and love.
In 1953, Angelina and Thomas moved to Irvington, New Jersey, where they welcomed their daughter, Cheryl. Angelina's role as a mother was one she cherished deeply, and she instilled in Cheryl the values of love, kindness, and the importance of family. After many happy years in Irvington, Angelina settled in Hazlet in 1988, where she continued to make memories with her growing family.
Angelina's professional life was marked by her dedication to helping others. She served as the Director of Medical Records for Irvington General Hospital for many years, before her retirement.
Angelina's legacy is carried on by her loving family. She was predeceased by her devoted husband, Thomas Kelligan, and her parents, Anthony and Marianne (Vitanzo) Apostolico. She leaves behind her cherished daughter, Cheryl Calavano; her adored grandchildren, Michele Calavano, Christopher Calavano, and Andrew Calavano and his wife Stefanie; and her treasured great-grandchildren, Gianna, Greyson, Gabriel, and Logan, who brought immense joy to her later years.
Angelina's passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who loved her, but her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the memories they hold dear. Angelina will be deeply missed, but her love will live on forever in the hearts of those she touched.
In respect of Angelina’s wishes, she will be privately cremated. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation on Saturday, January 17, 2026 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730. A prayer service will be offered for Angelina during the visitation hours. At a later date, Angelina’s remains will be laid to rest with her beloved husband, Thomas, at Hollywood Memorial Park in Union, New Jersey.
