Andrew John Bores, Sr., 80, of Matawan, New Jersey, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at Bayshore Medical Center in Holmdel. Andrew was born on January 8, 1945, in Bronx, New York and grew up in Brentwood. On January 15, 1966, Andrew and his beloved wife, Rosemarie, were married and began their life together in the Bronx, where they started their family. Shortly after, they settled in Cliffwood Beach, New Jersey, where they remained to raise their family and lived for many happy years. In 2002, Andrew and Rosemarie retired to Schertz, Texas, where they lived for 20 years before returning to Matawan, New Jersey.
Before his retirement, Andrew worked as a service manager for New York Telephone Company in Manhattan, New York. He was the fire inspector for Aberdeen Township and the San Antonio Airport (while living in Texas), as well as a proud volunteer firefighter with the Cliffwood Fire Company, where he served for over 50 years and acted as their Fire Chief for four separate terms. Andrew, fondly known as Andy was known to be a “Mr. Fix It” and proudly held the title of “Handy Andy” amongst his family and friends. He could often be found tinkering with various projects in his garage and enjoyed having his grandchildren help him out whenever possible. Most of all, Andrew was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend to many. He will be greatly missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
He was predeceased by his parents, John Anthony and Irene (Feeney) Bores. Andrew is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 59 years, Rosemarie (Kalsky) Bores, his loving children, Eileen Coughlin and her husband, Paul, of Hazlet, Andrew Bores Jr., and his wife, Eileen, of Cibolo, Texas, and Jennifer Bores of Cibolo, Texas, and his dear siblings, John Anthony Bores and his wife, Mary, of Long Island, New York, and Eileen Carolan, of Long Island, New York. Andrew also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Paul Coughlin Jr., Erin Elizabeth Coughlin, Justin Thomas Bores, Jack Andrew Bores, and Marisa Estremera, and Carla “Sweetie” Smith, who was like a sister to Andrew over the years.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday, April 3, 2025, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM and Friday morning, April 4, 2025, from 10:00 to 10:45 AM at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730.
