Alfredo Nunes, 63, of Hazlet, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2023, at Bayshore Medical Center after a yearlong battle with cancer. He was born on February 15, 1960, in Luanda, Angola to Joaquim Ferraz Nunes and Emilia Oliveira Nunes. He lived in Portugal until the age of six when he immigrated with his parents and sisters to the United States and they settled in Elizabeth, New Jersey. He attended St. Patrick Grammar School and High School and ultimately graduated from Elizabeth High School. After marrying his beloved wife, Annette, in 1981, they settled in Hazlet, New Jersey, where they raised two amazing boys, Brian and Michael. He worked for Supermarkets General for 27 years until a work injury deemed him disabled. He was an avid Dallas Cowboy’s and New York Mets fan, loved Elvis, loved big hugs from his favorite girls, but mostly loved spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Annette Michaud Nunes of Hazlet, New Jersey, his parents, Joaquim and Emilia (Oliveira) Nunes of Sobral, Portugal, his sons, Brian Nunes and his fiancée, Renee, of Concord, California, and Michael Nunes and his wife, Kristen, of Oceanport, NJ, his three grandchildren, Savannah, Joaquim, and Savahni. In addition, he is survived by his sisters, Palmira (Nunes) Santos and her husband, Carlos, of Long Valley, New Jersey, and Fernanda Nunes and her fiancé, Stuart, of Brick, New Jersey, his sister-in-law, Suzanne Bjornsen and her husband, Marty, of Callahan, Florida, his brother-in-law, Glen Michaud, of Gastonia, North Carolina, as well as his nephews, David, Christopher, Daniel, and Glen, and nieces, Emily, Dana, and Maria, that loved him dearly.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Sunday, November 12, 2023, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM and Monday morning, November 13, 2023, from 9:30 to 10:15 AM at Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route 35 North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730. A prayer service will be offered at the funeral home on Monday morning at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Fair View Cemetery, 456 State Highway 35, Middletown, New Jersey 07748.
