Alfred J. Targonsky Jr., fondly known as “Al”, 76, of Whiting, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at Whiting Gardens on Thursday, July 11, 2024. Al was born on January 1, 1948, in South Amboy, New Jersey and grew up in Red Bank where he attended St. James Catholic Elementary School. He graduated from CBA, Lincroft in 1965. He met his wife, Mary Ann, in April 1972 on a blind date, and a year later, on April 28, 1973, they were married at St James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank, and began their life together in Keyport. A few years later in 1976, they settled in Cliffwood Beach, where they remained to raise their daughter Tara Anne. They lived in Cliffwood Beach for 42 years before moving to Whiting in 2018. Before his retirement, Al worked as a warehouse manager for Silvert’s Furniture in Freehold, New Jersey, for many years; and prior to that at West Furniture in Keyport, New Jersey as a delivery driver and handler. Most of all, he was a loving and generous son, husband, father, Pop Pop, uncle, and friend. He will be greatly missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
He was predeceased by his parents, Alfred J. Targonsky Sr. and Anna Catherine (Hoffmann) Targonsky. Al is survived by his beloved and devoted wife of 51 years, Mary Ann (Carnovsky) Targonsky, his loving daughter, Tara Anne Gissubel and her husband, Robert, and his cherished grandchildren, Ty Joseph Gissubel and Bella Shea Gissubel as well as his closest fur baby, Miss Feebee Mae, his loving pug of eight years.
