William J. Welsh, 79, of Hazlet, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, February 20, 2019. William was born on May 7, 1939 in Brooklyn, New York where he grew up and met his beloved wife, Mary. William and Mary were married on October 2, 1982 in Brooklyn, where they began their lives together. Shortly after in 1984, they settled in Staten Island, New York and retired to Hazlet, New Jersey approximately 16 years ago. Before retirement, William worked as a Steamfitter for Local Union #638 in New York.
He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Jessie (Moffat) Welsh, his beloved wife, Mary C. (Ryan) Welsh, his son, William Welsh, and his brother, Joseph Welsh. William is survived by his dear children, Melanie Valerio and Joseph Welsh, of Brooklyn, New York, his adoring daughter-in-law, Ellen Devlin, and his loving siblings, James J. Welsh and his wife, Carol, Jeanne Krygier and her husband, Joseph, and Virginia Woods and her husband, William. William is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Emma Devlin, Ryan Devlin, Joseph Valerio, and Theresa Valerio, and many nieces and nephews, especially his nephew, James Welsh. William will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.
Family and friends are invited to visit on Friday, February 22, 2019 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM and Saturday morning, February 23, 2019 from 8:15 to 9:00 AM at the Shore Point Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 3269 State Highway/Route North, Hazlet, New Jersey 07730. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday morning, February 23, 2019 at 9:30 AM at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, 727 Highway 36, Union Beach, New Jersey 07735. Entombment will follow at Holmdel Cemetery Mausoleum, 900 Holmdel Road, Holmdel, New Jersey 07733.
