William M. Gilkison

William M. Gilkison, 84, of Union Beach, New Jersey, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at Bayshore Community Hospital in Holmdel.  William was born on November 11, 1934 in Glasgow, Scotland, where he grew up and met his loving wife, Margaret.  On March 17, 1956,  William and Margaret were married in Scotland, where they began their lives together.  In 1965, they moved to the United States, relocating to Kearny, New Jersey with their two children where they raised their family and remained for 30 years, and in the late 90's settled in Union Beach, New Jersey.  Before retirement, William worked in Building Maintenance and was also the Superintendent of an Apartment building for over 20 years.  In addition, William was a huge Rutgers Football Fan and a lover of Scotch and all things chocolate.  He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who was loved immensely by his family.

He was predeceased by his parents, Daniel and Jean (Murdock) Gilkison and his beloved wife, Margaret (MacKay) Gilkison.  William is survived by his loving children, William Gilkison and his wife, Catherine, of Union Beach, and Isabel Bradford and her husband, John, of Union Beach, his cherished grandchildren, William Gilkison and his wife, Katherine, Shawn Gilkison and his wife, Carre, Alison Voss and her husband, Jeff,  and Zachary Bradford, and his 10 adored great grandchildren.  William will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.
